Chioggia

We have been having gorgeous weather, so we decided to head to the coast (about an hour away) for the day. Chioggia (pronounced Kioja) is a little gem just south of Venice. Like Verona, it gets a different type of tourist. Most tourists head to Venice, but we really enjoyed this alternative. It is an authentic fishing town with deep sea fishing boats and fish markets, delicious food and gelato. It was Kiwi's 3rd birthday, so she came with us to celebrate - and oh my, she had fun with all of the different smells (we were quickly reminded that some places are easier than others with a dog - ha ha!). Luckily, Italians love their dogs and even when she sniffed the aprons of the restaurant workers - they turn and say "ciao bella" and give her a pat and a smile! It reminds you of old Italy with the laundry strung across the windows. It also has miles of beaches which we did not even get to during this visit (the beaches are pretty commercialized though). A super fun day!

Just like Venice there are tons of canals...

Blue skies and a nice breeze!

The water was clear...

Kiwi strutting her stuff - ha!

Posing on her birthday!

The fish market

Laundry strung out to dry...

The reflections were beautiful!

Pescheria (fish market)

Supposedly, the oldest clock in the World!

More fish market pics...

2 of our pack!

Has the same look as Venice, but a different vibe!

Love all of the old boats

Such a cute town!

Fresh from the Adriatic and Mediterranean

Such a pretty reflection of the Church!

And the Birthday Girl - whose mother is a crazy dog mom!

Beautiful Chioggia!
